Statement of Faith
We may use a variety of language and music styles to communicate God’s word for today’s culture, but our
message is as old as the Bible itself. As such, we embrace historic Christian teaching, emphasizing the following beliefs
We Believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God and divine authority on everything.
We Believe that there is one perfect God, eternally existent in three persons:
God the Father is both creator and sustainer of the universe. God so loved His creation that He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to save the world.
God the Son, Jesus, was both fully God and fully man, who was born of a virgin, and lived a sinless life. He was crucified and died as a penalty for our sins and was bodily resurrected from the dead on the third day. He ascended to the Father’s right hand, where He is the head of the church and from where He is coming again to personally claim His bride, the church.
God the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, dwells within all believers. He fills and refills believers in response to their yielding to His holy will. We believe the Holy Spirit is given to each believer to minister to needs both inside and outside of the church.
We Believe that because of sin, mankind, on his own, is without hope of eternal life in heaven.
We Believe in salvation by grace through faith in the atoning work of Christ’s death, burial and
resurrection. In order to accept Jesus Christ, we must repent of our sin, confess our faith in His death and resurrection and be baptized into Him.
We believe that the church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and that it exists to Exalt God, Encourage God’s family, Evangelize the lost, Educate for maturity, and Equip for ministry.
We believe that Jesus Christ will one day return, and will reign forever as King of kings and Lord of lords.
We believe that all who have died will be brought back from beyond - believers to everlasting fellowship with God and unbelievers to everlasting separation from God.
Our Core Values
At College Park Community Church there are seven key principles to which we are committed. Regardless of how our ministry changes, these are the standards by which we strive to conduct ourselves in all matters.
TRUTH - We are absolutely dedicated to teaching, believing, & doing what God declares in His Word
"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, It penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; It judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." ~Hebrews 4:12
LOVE - We will show care, concern and compassion for ALL others
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength...Love you neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these." ~Mark 12:30-31
PASSION - We will fully and enthusiastically invest ourselves to making a difference in our world
"Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does." ~Ephesians 6:7, 8 "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." ~Colossians 3:23
VISION - We will be willing to adapt & change to reach, and eternally affect our culture
"I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some." ~1 Corinthians 9:22
ACTION - We will sacrifice our time, energy, and resources to accomplish the work of ministry
"Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. ~1 Corinthians 15:58
TEAMWORK - We will make every effort to work together in Biblical unity
"And in Him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by His Spirit." ~Ephesians 2:22 "From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work." ~Ephesians 4:16
GLORY - We will give complete honor and credit for every good thing to God
"...whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." ~1 Corinthians 10:31
We identify with a movement known as the Church of God, based in Anderson, Indiana, which teaches that the church must emphasize unity as brothers and sisters in Christ, and that we are called to live a life of holiness – daily asking the Holy Spirit to make us more like Christ.
We practice water baptism by immersion; regular celebration of communion, prayer, and anointing with oil for physical, mental, and spiritual needs; and the public use of an altar for prayer.
